Privacy policy
How Rugged Technology Services collects, uses and protects personal information.

Rugged Technology Services (“RTS”, “we”, “us”) is an IT services company based in Saint John, New Brunswick. This policy explains what personal information we collect through ruggedtech.ca, why we collect it, and what we do with it. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
Information you give us
When you submit our contact form we collect the name, email address, and, if you choose to provide them, the phone number, company name, service interest and message content you enter. We also record the IP address the submission came from, purely to detect and block spam.
Information collected automatically
Our site is served through Cloudflare. Cloudflare processes standard request data (IP address, user agent, requested URL, timestamps) to deliver the site, provide security filtering, and produce aggregate traffic counts. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is cookieless and does not fingerprint or track individuals across sites.
We do not set advertising cookies, we do not run third-party ad or social tracking pixels, and we do not build behavioural profiles of visitors.
The free security scan
Our free DNS and email security scan reads only publicly published
information about the domain you enter: its DNS records and the HTTP response headers of its
homepage, the same data any person can retrieve with a browser or a dig
command. Running a scan does not require an account, and we do not require an email address to
show you the results. Scan submissions are processed in memory to generate your result and are
not stored against your identity.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and provide the services you ask about.
- To provide, secure and maintain this website.
- To meet legal, accounting and regulatory obligations.
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
Who processes it
We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:
- Cloudflare, website hosting, security and cookieless analytics.
- FormSubmit, which relays contact-form submissions to our inbox.
- Google Workspace, our business email, where your enquiry is received and stored.
Some of these providers operate infrastructure outside Canada, which means your information may be stored or processed in another country and could be subject to that country’s laws.
How long we keep it
Contact-form enquiries are retained in our business email for as long as needed to respond and to maintain a record of the relationship, and are then deleted. Server and security logs are retained on a short rolling basis by Cloudflare. If you become a client, records relating to services provided are retained for the period required by Canadian tax and business-records law.
How we protect it
This site is served over HTTPS only, with HSTS, a content security policy, and standard hardening headers. Access to the mailbox that receives enquiries is restricted to RTS staff and protected with multi-factor authentication.
Your rights
Under PIPEDA you may ask us to confirm what personal information we hold about you, request access to it, ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, or ask us to delete it where we have no ongoing legal or business reason to keep it. You may also withdraw consent to further contact at any time.
To make a request, email staff@ruggedtech.ca or call 506-704-2287. We respond to access requests within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page.
